Ice cream sandwich arrives for Motorola’s Xoom Tablet, in the U.S. at least.
This summer I became very impatient waiting for my Honeycomb 3.1 update and so I took matter into my own hands (well I mean XDA’s hands). Due to this change in this version, I now have Ice Cream Sandwich ahead of Canadian schedule.
Take a look at some of the screen shots that I took as I giggled like a little school girl at the crazy gear turning Android!

Right off the bat you can notice that the colours are much sharper than in previous versions of Android. Much of the layout is the same and you will be very familiar if you have used Honeycomb before. If you haven’t, then you are still going to enjoy yourself! I was really impressed with the speed at which you can switch from screen to screen. There was some lag but that is to be expected for any major update.
You will however, notice a difference in how and where you choose widgets. Widgets are now located with the apps in the top right hand corner of the screen. A new UI experience in this menu is a welcome one! Rather than getting lost in a sea of hard to distinguish apps, Google has now set it up so as to appear that the next group of apps or widgets are coming from the bottom up.
There are some great features on this version of Android and I could go on, but I’ll sign off for now and let you explore it for yourself.
Go to XDA to find out how to get a early version of ICS without having to root your machine.
